You Have Got To Be Kidding

I take a newsletter published by the Center for Science in the Public Interest that has great information about health, how healthy is fast food, etc. Just a great resource. It’s called "Nutrition Action Healthletter."

This month’s issue has information about food additives and which ones are safe. Two additives it mentions are particularly concerning to me.

Cochineal and carmine, which are food colorings, are made from the dried and ground – get this – BODIES of INSECTS. There are health risks up to and including death for people who are allergic to insects, in addition to the revulsion reaction no doubt many of you are having just knowing about this.

I advise careful scrutiny of food labels from now on.

Just thought you should know.
